ContrairiMairi Demands Illinois Election Board Investigate Obama

ContrairiMarie of Illinois has written the following letter to Dan White, Executive Director of the Illinois Board of Elections.

>Dan White, Executive Director
Illinois Board of Elections
1020 S. Spring St.
Springfield, Illinois 62704

Dear Mr. White,

I am writing to respectfully demand the Board investigate the qualifications of Barack H. Obama. In light of the Certificate of Live Birth posted at the Campaign's internet site, I feel there needs to be a full investigation of his citizenship status. Illinois statutes require that he be a citizen, and I challenge that his claim is valid. The Certificate posted has been altered. The certificate number has been removed. The document states clearly, that any alteration of it makes it invalid. I believe that removal of the certificate number does alter the document, thereby rendering it invalid.

It is the duty of the Board to insure that all legal guidelines and qualifications of any candidate running for office in this State are adhered to. He is our State Senator. That is far too important a position to leave in a questionable state. He must be required to make public, a legal documentation of his citizenship status. It also now is stated that he holds citizenship in two other countries that do not recognize dual citizenship with the United States. I am also respectfully challenging that his ownership of citizenship in either of those countries negates his U.S citizenship. If he is in fact holding multiple passports issued by countries that do not recognize dual citizenship, his American citizenship cannot be valid.
It is imperative that the residents of this State are being represented by persons who meet all the legal qualifications as set forth by Illinois law. You cannot expect that we should be governed by laws passed by someone breaking the law. Please send verification with documented proof of his status to me at the address listed.

Sincerely,

ContrairiMairi

Hello! I found your blog through a story linked by Drudge. Great letter, I have forwarded your link to many people. To me the issue of dual citizenships is very disturbing. How can a man want to be president of this country yet have citizenship in two others? Additionally, how difficult is it to produce an unaltered birth certificate? Something is not right. Have you gotten a response or is there a petition one can sign?

Penny and Michael. For you to complain about someone having a dual citizenship is xenophonic racism. When are you going to stop this open display of a mental illness? You have no control over the claim of who an American is.

Oh, John McCain's not a citizen here at all, but you didn't investigate that.

Lastly, your blog was REPORTED as spam by the blogshere, not by Google itself. They were taking action in response.

Sorry, but that's a fact, the public does not like the blog. It's hateful and sad and reflects all that's wrong with our country and not what's right about it.

Zennie, I'm sorry but you're comments are absolutely ludicrous. If Obama has nothing to hide, a public figure like himself should have no problem proving his citizenship status.

It is quite a valid request considering the circumstances (i.e. the certificate posted has been altered). In addition, your use of xenophobia further suggests that Obama is, in fact, a foreigner.

On a last note, what do you mean John McCain is not a citizen? That's just ignorant and stupid of you to write.

Good points, but more importantly if he is elected as persident he will hold a US security clearance at much higher level then the one I hold. I know for a fact anyone in the service of the DOD must renounce any other citizenship prior to recieving a security clearnace. So when will he be renounce his other nationalities?

Penny--I have not received a response from Hawaii or from the Obama campaign.

Zennie--It's not so that John McCain is not a citizen. He was born to parents who were US citizens while his father was in the military. A careful review of the statutes concerning citizenship include his situation in citizenry. From an equity standpoint, it hardly seems fair that a military man who sacrifices much to his country should have his child's citizenship deprived as a result.

I agree with Senor Clenay. The matter is not just the chance of lack of citizenship. Obama should support openness in government. Mr. Soros, his most important backer, heads "the open society institute". If Mr. Soros supports openness, then why is the Obama campaign secretive about basic information, hiding behind technicalities in the Hawaiian public health laws.

TP--interesting point, and a good one.

I think this whole thing is nuts. His mother is and always was a U.S. Citizen. Since he is the son of a U.S. Citizen, he is a "Natural Born" U.S. Citizen, i.e., not "Naturalized" but born a citizen. Every child of a U.S. Citizen, no matter where the birth takes place, is born a U.S. Citizen. Do you disagree with this? The reason I ask is that I have two nieces born in Germany to my U.S. born brother. They both have blue passports.

Your contention that McCain's birth in Panama somehow bestows special dispensation on him that would be denied Obama, who was born in Hawaii, is laughable. They are both natural born citizens. In fact, the one person who ever ran for the office of President

Barack could have been born in Canada but as long as he was born of a U.S. Citizen he is natural born and entitled to seek the office of President and to hold it when he is elected.

Sorry about the unfinished sentence in the second paragraph above. I meant to say that the one candidate in modern times where this might have been made an issue was Barry Goldwater. He had been born in the Arizona Territory prior to statehood. The notion that this disqualified him was roundly rejected. The notion that his conservative pugnacity and regressive view of U.S. foreign relations DID disqualify him gained significant traction with voters, dooming his 1964 candidacy.

You are right on track, Mc Cain released his birth certificate. For a child of a citizen of the US and a different nation at that time, the mother has to be 5 years past her 18th birthday. BHO"s mother was not. I believe this is a legitimate request. The fact that the Obama campaign is so adamant against releasing it is quite troubling. Keep digging, Change the world.

Penny, there is a petition for Illinois Residents online at:http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/IRPPC/
This is the Illinois petition.
VMC, you need to understand US law. Article II of the Constitution states clearly that John McCain's father was an embassador of this country and provides that his birth off American soil still allows his birth to be "Natural Born" because of that status. Barack's mother does NOT qualify by Article II in that she had not been a U.S. citizen for at least five years AFTER the age of 16 when he was born. In order for her to pass her own citizenship to him, she would have had to be at least 21, not 18 as she was! Also, his adoption under Indonesian law by his stepfather, negates his U.S citizenship, even if he HAD been born in the U.S, or his Mom HAD been able to give him citizenship. Please avail yourself of all legalities under Article II of the Constitution before you go around making an idiot of yourself. U.S law is very clear on these matters.

Article II of the U.S. Constitution makes no claim whatsoever regarding the citizenship of any child of an "embassador" [sic]. Furthermore, the Constitution does not specify *at all* what a natural born citizen really is until the matter was taken up with the 14th Amendment. Go look that up.

Now, it is true that the law in effect from 1952 until 1986 stipulated children born on foreign soil to women in wedlock to foreign nationals must have resided 10 years in the U.S., 5 of which must have been after the age of 14. You are aware that that law was repealed in 1986, however. And, since it is simply a statute, NOT an item in the U.S. Constitution, then it would be challengeable in federal courts as discriminatory and illegal under the provisions of the 14th Amendment which state that NO person shall be deprived equal protection under the law. Ann was an American. Had Barack been born on foreign soil, which he was NOT, his Mother was an 18 year old AMERICAN and in equity her child should have the same privileges as those of a child of a woman one year older than her. I would love to see that one in front of the Supreme Court.

Trouble for you is that this is NEVER going to get any traction. It is all bull#$ST right wing romance; "YEAH, he wasn't REALLY born in HAWAII, was he??" Next it will be that his Mother was from Pluto. So best of luck with your time waster and we'll see how it all comes out in November when Obama is elected.
