My op-ed "Mamdani's List Starts Small, History Proves Where It Ends" appears in Saturday September 5's Washington Examiner. Publishing lists of citizens, whether favored (as was done by the Thirty Tyrants of Athens) or proscribed (as were done by Sulla and the Second Triumvirate) have often been part of declines from republican to tyrannical forms of government. Other examples include the Medici, the Blacklists of the McCarthy era, and the Nazis' list of affluent Jews that preceded Kristallnacht. See:
