I had blogged about David Warren's excellent blog on Barack Obama's Messianic pretensions.
Warren Responds to my blog:
>"Good stuff, & thank you for calling my attention to your blog, which I had unaccountably overlooked.
"My own inbox, since that column was published & posted, has been filled with comments of an ad hominem nature, from some hundreds of Obama supporters. Extreme vulgarity in many, indeed most, cases. They give the impression of a howling mob, out for blood. One thinks not only of Christ's remark that, "My Kingdom is not of this world" (which the few polite earnestly dispute), but also of, "By their fruits ye shall know them." As I argue, a quasi-religious fervour has fuelled Obama's candidacy, stoked by the candidate himself. As I argue, this cannot end well."
I have been observing this phenomenon for weeks. The inversion of religious truth is communism's stock in trade.

Redalert: Republican Turnout In CA Exceeds Democratic
Doug Ross has forwarded a link to the following Redstate.com article by Redalert:
>"California has begun early voting already as well as mail-in balloting. The number of people who have gone in to vote in person has been extensive. The results so far prove what we had always suspected. The polls are being proven as totally unreliable. Although the results of early balloting have not been disclosed,of course, how many Republicans and how many Democrats have voted has been revealed.
>The results are simply shocking. The polls showed Barack Obama with an 18 point lead in California just a few days ago. The results thus far are the complete opposite. In the most liberal state in the entire country, the results are that 99,000 Republicans have voted and 96,000 Democrats voted. In the mail-in balloting the results so far are that 9,000 Democrats sent in their ballots and that 5,000 Republicans did so. So with nearly 210,000 people having voted, the Democrats have only a 1,000 vote advantage !
>If we take the liberty of assuming that all Republicans will vote for John McCain and all Democrats will vote for Obama, then the race is incredibly close. I'm sure that Obama will eventually win in California, but if he is struggling here after he pushed so hard for early voting, then he will lose the election ! Everybody thought he would win California in a landslide, but so far anyway,it's very tight. That means that in the less liberal states he is in real trouble.
>Ignore the pundits. Forget the polls. Get out there and vote for John McCain. The results in California show the wisdom of Yogi Berra who said, "It's not over until it's over."

Mark R. Levin's "Obama Temptation"
Dan Friedman forwarded Mark R. Levin's excellent National Review article, "Obama Temptation". Levin notes:
"I honestly never thought we'd see such a thing in our country - not yet anyway - but I sense what's occurring in this election is a recklessness and abandonment of rationality that has preceded the voluntary surrender of liberty and security in other places."
He goes on to discuss the incredible frenzy of media distortion and bias associated with the Obama campaign. He asks "whether this election will show a majority of the voters susceptible to the appeal of a charismatic demagogue."
I believe that America's gradual descent into socialism is more than symptomatic of Senator Obama's meretricious rhetoric, media bias and public naivete. America was once the freest nation in the world, and this is no longer so. The process has been a long one. There has been a century of descent. In 1912 Walter Weyl predicted that it would take 50 years for social democracy to be transformed into socialism. Ninety-six years have passed since then, and Senator Obama is but the realization of Weyl's vision of a Frankified America.
There are many causes of America's socialization, certainly to include the media, the lack of public interest in freedom, and the education system. Certainly the education system indoctrinates students into believing that capitalism is exploitative. Moreover, the fallacious ideology of Keynesian economics is the core of economics and business programs. Students are taught that the "authority" of a professionally educated elite and the PAM media is to be accepted over common sense.
Today in a graduate class I was discussing utilitarian versus deontological ethical systems, and I used the mass killings in Cambodia as an example of a misapplication of utilitarianism. The students were master's students in the economics program at Brooklyn College. I was startled to learn that the students were unaware that there had been mass killings in Cambodia; that Stalin had murdered millions of peasants through mass starvation; or that Mao Tse Tung had murdered 25 million people. As well, the students had never heard of the "Cultural Revolution" and the "Red Guard".
In other words, New York City school children go through 12 years of lower education and four years of college at the City University of New York, plus another year of graduate school, without ever having heard that communism was responsible for mass murder. However, they are taught that capitalism and freedom are the source of poverty and intolerance.
This inculcation of ignorance through the education system has occurred during Republican as well as Democratic administrations. Mayor Giuliani and George Pataki were Mayor and Governor during these students' educational years, but neither bothered to ensure that the students had been educated about communism, socialism or capitalism.
Is it surprising that Americans are susceptible to a tinpot demagogue like Senator Barack Obama when the education system is in the business of denying history?

Obama's Change Vision: Death Threats to Pollster
National Review Online reports that Strategic Vision received death threats when they reported that John McCain is ahead (h/t Bob Robbins). Obama supporters have made similar attacks on this blog. National Review reports several death threats attacking Strategic Vision, for instance:
"A poll that gave Sarah Palin and Barack Obama the same favorability rating is wrong off the bat. Be careful going outside tonight because you might not see tomorrow."
According to David Johnson, Strategic Vision's CEO, this is the first time in the firm's history that they have received threats from a political campaign. The Obama campaign certainly works for change.
This is business as usual for Barack Obama and his thuggish supporters. Read the whole NRO article here
