Paul, or the Tea Party Is Bust

Glenda McGee writes that if the Tea Party can't support Ron Paul for president then it is the party of big government. Glenda links to the Rockwell Institute's Michael S. Rozeff's Infowars piece  assailing American imperialism. It is now apparent that American imperialism and republicanism are at loggerheads, just as they were in Rome.  Hopefully, an American Caesar will not defeat Cato as he did in Rome.  Progressivism was always imperialistic, but the choice between freedom and the Progressivism of the Democrats and Republicans has never been posed explicitly, at least until after World War II, and then in small doses like Vietnam.  America must put its freedom, including both civil liberties and economic freedom, ahead of imperialism.  Rozeff writes:

America can go in one of two ways. It can continue on the path of empire, in which case it continues downhill and impedes the world’s progress; or it can renounce empire, in which case it restores the dignity of Americans and imparts new opportunities to the peoples of the world...The only major politician who is leading America in this direction is Congressman Ron Paul. His is a lonely but courageous voice in Washington. The commendable directions he is proposing add up to renouncing empire...Americans have to understand that they have an empire and that its effects are a net negative for them and for the rest of the world’s peoples...To shift away from empire, Americans have to disavow it. They have to go directly against the powerful interest groups that favor it.

It is becoming increasingly apparent Rozeff is right; freedom and imperialism are incompatible.

Glenda McGee Writes:

One man has been fighting the Fed, the Warfare/Welfare State/ the UN and for property rights.

When I see Tea Party people still believing in the Rethuglican establishment, I think that the elites are correct - Americans are brainswashed morons. Ron Paul is true to the constitution and no other candidate can claim that.

If the Tea Party is not the Ron Paul Party, it is the party of big government 'Patriot Act' Bush fascists, Nixon who smiled and wined and dined with Mao after he murdered 10 million people, and the New World Order that came from Bush senior's mouth.

UN Agenda 21 drives every act of the past twenty years.  Only Ron Paul is talking about New World Order. If the Tea Party stays moronic - You will lose you home, your car, your right to eat meat, your children, your right to procreate, and ultimately your life.

Lindsey Graham, Porker of the Month, Proves GOP = Dems

Every so often American politics goes through a ritual. The GOP claims that it is for small government, while the Democrats claim that they serve the poor and that the GOP is the party of the rich.  Therefore, small government is in the interest of the rich.  The Democrats claim that George Soros, Warren Buffett, Mark Zuckleberg, Bill Gates, Larry Paige and Paul Pelosi are altruists.  They aren't rich because they're Democrats. They can prove that the Republicans are the party of the rich. The proof is that Charles Koch is a Republican. And he's no altruist because he's a Republican. Soros is an altruist because he's a Democrat.  Democrats are geniuses.

Republicans equally are geniuses. They claim to be the party of small government. But the Republicans have failed to cut government. Three levels of government spending are in excess of 40% of national income. But the Republicans cannot find more than a few percent to cut.

Today, Citizens Against Government Waste has named Lindsey Graham (R-SC) Porker of the Month. CAGW notes that GOP stalwart Graham was willing to bring the Senate to a standstill over Congress's failure to fund his $40,000 earmark for a federal study concerning Charleston's port, a study that is not a federal responsibility.

CAGW notes:

On April 11, Sen. Graham threw a fit, telling reporters that he would 'tie the Senate in knots' until the port study money was approved.  Unfortunately, the tantrum paid off.  Despite Congress’ ongoing earmark moratorium, on April 15 Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) pledged on the Senate floor that he would find funding for the study before the end of fiscal year (FY) 2011. 'This project and the study it requires both reek of pork,' declared CAGW President Tom Schatz.

Exactly why Americans believe in a two-party system which has produced the likes of Lindsey Graham is a puzzle.

Can Paul and Johnson Save the GOP?

In recent days Congressman Ron Paul (R-T) announced that he is establishing an exploratory committee for his presidential bid and Governor Gary Johnson (R-NM) announced his own candidacy. These two reformers, who advocate elimination of Fed power or its reduction, have to contend with Wall Street Progressivism, which is likely to defeat them within the GOP.

Two days ago, The Wall Street Journal carried a front page story announcing "Financiers Switch to GOP." Three years ago I had suspected that Wall Street, which had heavily supported Obama, would dump Obama after his granting them trillions in subsidies and his supporting Fed policies that will, over time, cause inflation and ever greater transfers of wealth from people who work and are on retirement pensions to hedge fund managers and America's non-productive financial class. During 2008, Wall Street supported Obama because a Republican could not have achieved the massive wealth transfers that they required, for the Republicans by then had been associated with excessive support for the super-rich. To obtain the massive subsidization Wall Street required the left's support. Obama presented the image of a Black activist, a "progressive" socialist who would fight the rich. Many Republicans naively believed this. In fact, Wall Street had contributed to Obama two to one over McCain, who was associated with Bush.

Obama's supporters, New York Times readers and college students, believed that Obama would redistribute wealth from the wealthy to the poor. Obama's opponents believed that Obama would redistribute wealth from the middle class to the poor. In fact, Obama has redistributed wealth from the poor and middle class to the wealthy.

He has done his job well. During Obama's administration the transfers from the Federal Reserve and the US Treasury to banks and global financial institutions amounted to $12.8 trillion according to Bloomberg, but are likely much more. Three years ago I predicted that by now Wall Street would have thrown Obama under the bus because he would no longer be needed. His alliance with the left is inconvenient to Wall Street. The progressive left will continue to attack Wall Street while Republican Progressives will not. Thus, The Wall Street Journal reports that hedge fund managers, "who made a big bet on Barack Obama...have turned their backs...and are actively supporting Republicans." The article cites Daniel Loeb, who had raised $200,000 for Obama and who, Democratic Underground.com reports, earned $250 million in 2007 alone. The Journal reports that Loeb is a long time Democratic Party supporter, but he has switched to the GOP this year.

The Journal reported a few weeks ago that Mitt Romney had met with 100 Wall Street bigwigs to obtain financing and to offer to do their bidding. Clearly, Wall Street will aim to push for a Progressive GOP in 2012. If rank-and-file GOP members go along with it, they will elect another George W. Bush, probably worse.

There are three strategies for pro-freedom Republicans. The first is to vote for Paul or Johnson in the primaries. If they lose, option two is to support a third party. Option three would be to support Obama as the lesser of two evils in 2012.

Pakistan Dumps US---Beginning of World War III?

In his recent Trends Journal Gerald Celente and Paul Craig Roberts argue that Obama's recent military adventure in Libya under UN cover is about Chinese oil. That is, the Chinese had invested in oil in eastern Libya, and America is now supporting a military intervention that would wrest oil from the Chinese and potentially put it in the West's hands. Pakistan is allied with China because they share an enemy: India. Both countries have fought wars with India in the past 50 years. The Sino-Indian War was in 1962, and Pakistan fought India in 1965 and 1971.

Today, The Wall Street Journal carried a front page story that Pakistani Prime Minister Yosuf Raza Gilani has told Afghan President Hamid Karzai that he should dump the US. I guess that's a logical move after the billions that we've bestowed on both Pakistan and Afghanistan. According to Newsweek, we have given Pakistan tens of billions of dollars over the past 50 years. We have given Afghanistan in the range of $50 billion including military spending and aid.

In August 2008 Bill and Hillary Clinton spent a weekend at the Emerson Resort, where I work out. Clinton was about to enter the gym, but spotting me (I was there after closing) he called a secret service guy who inspected the gym and asked me some questions. Like Travis Bickle, I'm a suspicious guy. When I went home I asked myself what I would have said to Clinton had we had the chance to talk. I concluded that it would have been to urge him to work against a potential war with China.

Trends Journal is suggesting that the Chinese may be drawn into the Libyan war on Gaddafi's side, and that the Libyan war could erupt into an international conflict over oil. The Pakistani thumb nosing, which occurs just days after Celente released Trends Journal's spring issue, seems to confirm his scenario. Might Pakistan be responding to China in urging Afghanistan to reject the US? Might Libya be connected to this response?

Obama Was Lying Then, So Is He Lying Now?

This video argues that the recently released Obama birth certificate is a fraud. . Also see the Escape from Tyranny blog (h/t an anonymous poster here).

What I am wondering is this. Back in 2008 when Pamela Geller, Texas Darlin', other bloggers and I were raising questions about the birth certificate, Factcheck.org produced the Certificate of Live Birth and put it on their site. They and Obama claimed that was all that there was to see; that the COLB was final proof. Now, Obama is producing a different document. He is changing his story. He was lying then. Whether this video's questions are legit, my question is, why did he and Factcheck.org lie? Why did they lie two years ago and fail to produce this document then?

Ron Paul in Manhattan

Glenda McGee and I drove 2 1/2 hours to Manhattan to hear Ron Paul speak at the Webster Hall rock club on 12th Street and Third Avenue in Manhattan's Greenwich Village. Sharad Karkhanis, editor of Patriot Returns, joined us. My friend City Councilman Dan Halloran from Queens (the only elected Libertarian in New York) introduced speakers Peter Schiff and Ron Paul. Previously, I had not realized that Peter is the son of Irwin Schiff, the tax protestor. A degree of disorganization marred the event. Webster Hall only provided one bartender even though about 25 people were waiting to be served. The speakers were late, and Ron Paul did not appear until 10:30, even though he had been scheduled for two hours earlier. Also, the organizers treated the event as a rock concert, with loud music playing while the crowd, which was jammed elbow to elbow onto Webster Hall's dance floor, waited.

That said, the event was wonderful. At least several hundred enthusiastic Paul supporters were present, and the room was filled to the escape doors. Most in the audience were young, many in their twenties and thirties. College students worked as volunteers and were in the audience. I met an NYU Student against whom a professor had discriminated because of his pro-Paul views. The palpable energy inspired me. Here in rural Olive, most of the Republicans are oldsters. It was wonderful to see a dynamic group of youngsters, far greater than the number that was active in the Libertarian Party in the 1970s or that had heard of the ideas of von Mises and Rothbard back then, hollering to abolish the Fed. While Schiff was speaking someone from the audience kept hollering "Austrian Economics!" and, What about von Mises?" from the floor.

While waiting for Paul, Dan Halloran did an able job of keeping the audience interested. As well, Peter Schiff gave an insightful talk about monetary policy from the pro-gold and anti-Fed point of view. Attacking the Federal Reserve Bank and the current monetary system, Paul spoke about monetary issues, and mentioned, without excessive emphasis, the risk of world government. The audience cheered when one of the speakers said that the only other good candidate for president is Gary Johnson.

GARY JOHNSON ANNOUNCES HIS CANDIDACY FOR PRESIDENT

April 21, 2011, Concord New Hampshire - Former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson today announced that he is seeking the 2012 Republican nomination for President of the United States. Johnson served as governor from 1995 to 2003. The announcement was made Thursday morning on the steps of the New Hampshire State House.

Announcing his candidacy, Johnson released the following statement:

“Let’s talk about America.

Today’s mess didn’t just happen. We elected it -- one senator, member of Congress and president at a time. Our leaders in Washington, DC, have ‘led’ America to record unemployment, a devalued currency, banking scandals, the mortgage crisis, drug crisis, economic crisis, loss of our nation’s industrial might – and a long list of other reminders our nation is way off course.

Why am I telling you this? Because America is better than this. And because I can help fix it.

I’m a fix-it man.

Before I was governor of New Mexico, I started a one-man fix-it business that I grew into an American dream with more than a thousand employees. My formula for success was simple. I showed up on time, did what I said what I’d do, and knew what I was doing.

I did the same thing as governor, exactly. Within two terms, I’d eliminated New Mexico's budget deficit and cut the rate of state government growth in half while reducing the state workforce by over 10%, without laying off a single qualified state worker. Saying no to waste, corruption and political games is easier than you think. During my two terms I vetoed 750 pieces of bad, unnecessary and wasteful legislation, and used the line-item veto to save millions of dollars. I was called “Governor Veto,” and accepted that nickname proudly.

America needs a ‘President Veto’ right now – someone who will say ‘no’ to insane spending and stop the madness that has become Washington. That’s why I am here today to announce that I’m running for President of the United States. And I don’t do so lightly.

President Obama is about to raise and spend $1 billion in a reelection campaign to keep America on the track it’s already on. I would ask: How much more of this track can we stand? How much more financial stress can we handle? How high do taxes have to go? How much deficit is too much? How much more of the Bill of Rights do we have to lose before we say not just no, but HELL NO?

It’s time to put one of our own in the White House. I have the qualifications, the ability and the know-how to do the job. I also have a track record. I’ll do what I say I’ll do.

I look at the rest of the field running for president, and that song by The Who comes to mind. Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss. You know the one. We ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again.’ What’s the definition of insanity? It is to keep doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different outcome.

I’m ready for a different America. I’m ready for the day when a person can build a good life on a decent income, and we can take our government at its word – when people have more to smile about. I’m ready for peace and prosperity and some American dreaming. I’m ready for America to be AMERICA again.

Our current president will not lead us there. None of the professional Washington set will. We have to get there on our own.

I’m here in New Hampshire today because I can – and will -- do a better job for you as president.

I’m optimistic about our chances. Winning freedom is what America does.

We’ve got this.”

Following the announcement, Governor Johnson will spend three days in New Hampshire meeting with supporters, visiting local businesses and on Saturday, April 23, hiking and skiing the well-known Tuckerman’s Ravine in the White Mountains.

Gary Johnson Is a Great Presidential Candidate

Governor Gary Johnson (R-NM) is a great candidate for president. I interviewed him on the Republican Liberty Caucus site last year. Johnson has better small government credentials than any candidate save Ron Paul. On this video he says that we are on the verge of a financial collapse. He favors balancing the federal budget tomorrow and cutting 43 cents out of every federal dollar. He favors decriminalizing marijuana and cutting or ending the victimless crime incarceration rate.

Koran Burning and the Establishment of Religion

Dear Senator Graham:

You are out of line to say that the speech or expression of book burners ought to be suppressed. While I agree that book burning, including of the Koran, is wrong, federal and local governments do not have the right to suppress speech. In choosing between your three wars versus respect for free expression, I emphatically choose the latter. Your wars have yet to produce value; you destroy value through your socialistic intolerance.

Your attitude toward freedom of speech has solidified my view on your three wars: all three need to be brought to an end now. And as far as Pastor Terry Jones, although I agree that he is wrong to burn the Koran, anyone who thinks that Dearborn or any other city has the right to arrest him is NOT AN AMERICAN. Benjamin Franklin wrote, "Where liberty is, there is my country." You sir, reside elsewhere, as do Dearborn's goons.

Sincerely,

Mitchell Langbert, Ph.D.

President Barack Obama
The White House
Washington, DC

Dear President Obama:

The recent detention of a pastor who burned the Koran is a hateful, suppressive act illegally perpetrated by Dearborn's government. While it is desirable to be respectful to all religions, you as president ought not to play a role in establishing a religion, in suppressing freedom of speech, or in making light of hate crimes against Jews while fetishizing much less substantial ones against Muslims. The US Constitution does not permit you to establish a religion.

Recently, in the context of Operation Enduring Freedom, the US military burned Bibles. You have established your indifference to Christianity; as well, you have violated the establishment clause of the US Constitution.

Sincerely,

Mitchell Langbert, Ph.D.
