Congressional Antics

A friend who prefers anonymity sent me the above picture with the following analysis of the Connecticut congressional delegation:

House Minority Leader  Lawrence F. Cafero Jr., R-Norwalk, pictured standing, far right, speaks while colleagues Rep. Barbara Lambert, D-Milford and Rep. Jack F. Hennessy, D-Bridgeport, play solitaire Monday night as the House convened to vote on a  new budget. (AP)

The guy sitting in the row in front of these two.... he's on Facebook, and the guy behind Hennessy is checking out the baseball scores.

These are the folks that couldn't get the budget out by Oct. 1, and are about to control your health care, cap and trade, and the list goes on and on
.

Should we buy them larger screen computers - or - a ticket home, permanently?

This is one of their 3-DAY WORK WEEKS that we all pay for (salary is about $179,000 per year).  I am ready to start from the beginning by voting out all elected officials and not letting any of them stay in office for more than two terms.  No more lifelong healthcare, retirement, voting in their own pay raises, taking perks on our taxes, etc.

Mitchell;
You're so right, term limits is absolutely a beginning. How can that happen unless it is placed on a ballot and the voters pass it? No elected official will ever opt for it

Unfortunately, too many Americans "think" every other rep in D.C. is corrupt but THEIRS!
I think that those in D.C. should make a salary 10% LESS than the lowest salary currently being paid in the Nation. This would encourage them to bring the lowest paid salaries UP, and encourage job opportunities. They would no longer be able to "gin up" the minimum wage to increase their own salary.
EVERY law they choose to pass would cover them FIRST, and there would be no "grandfathering in" previously elected officials under previous laws. Their coverage by their laws would be retroactive IMMEDIATELY! Term limits would be imposed, and maybe we would get people elected who were just "dedicated to America's future" instead of a pack of "opportunists" looking to guarantee their own futures with total disregard for the American populace.
Earmarks END! If Alaska needs a "bridge to nowhere", the Federal government should be so "UN-involved in removing money from the State of Alaska, that Alaska has it's OWN money, in-State, to pay for their bridge!
I am SICK of paying for earmarks to other States that I have NO INVOLVEMENT with.
Americans need to "get wise" about how our government money is being spent. Some time ago, I read an article about Daniel Boone, and paraphrasing, he was out "pressing the flesh" in his district, when a constituent told him he would never vote for Daniel again, because Mr. Boone had led a campaign to "pay federal dollars to a widow". Danial Boone promised the man that he saw the error of that folly, and would, if re-elected NEVER waste Federal money on ANYTHING except what was allowed by the Constitution "pre-perversion". Daniel Boone kept his word, and he and the farmer were fast friends ever after.......it's time current politicians learn similar lessons from their constituents. FIRE THEM!

8This picture has circulated around the Internet for some time now - first showing up (that I saw) months ago. I'm not sure this was not photoshopped... as so much that comes to us by Internet is the result of some very talented people with too much time on their hands. I specifically remember one of a moose being used for logging... Please be careful what you pass around as real. It sometimes looks like it could be - but is not. I'm still for sending them all home - regardless of this being 'real' or not.
