Will Violence Escalate?

Glenda McGee forwarded a link on Lucianne.com to a Buffalo News story that someone threw a brick through Congresswoman Louise Slaughter's Niagara Falls office window. Slaughter is a leading advocate of Obamacare and heads the House committee that will structure the House health reform vote.

I wonder if there will be increasing violence directed at the government in response to the health reform fiasco.

De Russy: Democratic Media's Reporting on Health Bureaucratization a Bust

Candace de Russy is a former trustee of SUNY. She spoke at the recent Queens Village Republican Lincoln Day dinner where she received their educator of the year award. When she was SUNY Trustee de Russy stood up for common sense and standards. Unfortunately, her term expired during Governor Spitzer's brief, addlebrained governorship and she was denied reappointment.

De Russy's most recent piece on Big Journalism exposes the Democratic Party media's tendentious coverage of the Obama health care bill, which has turned Mr. Obama's once lustrous image into a laughing matter. Obama's image now is less marketable than that of Chris Collins, the New York gubernatorial hopeful who made (actually in my opinion a rather funny) joke saying that Assembly Sheldon Speaker was the third of the anti-Christs predicted by Nostradamus (the first two being Napoleon and Hitler). People who claim that Collins's joke is distasteful have to account for Seinfeld's "Soup Nazi."

De Russy notes that Michael Tanner of the Cato Institute has compared President Obama's arm twisting tactics on the wretched health bill to Tony Soprano's tactics with the gambler who owned a sporting goods outlet at the local mall. I can hear Mr. Obama saying it to Capo Paul Pelosi: "Just when I thought I was out, They pull me back in!"

De Russy reviews the lynch mob-style tactics and lies in the Democratic Party media. One comment: the MSM moniker is passe, now they are DPM, Democratic Party media. There's nothing mainstream about television news. The Internet game World of Warcraft has 11 million players, almost three times more than any TV news show has viewers (O'Reilly has 3.9 million), and the elves and monsters on WOW are better-connected to reality than the "news" on MSNBC, CNN or Fox.

Quoting Betsy McCaughey, de Russy notes that the health bill would add to the bureaucratization of medicine. De Russy notes that public employee plans were exempted from the bill's special tax on "Cadillac" plans and that Congress has failed to include itself in the public option plan.

The current bill includes provision for a rationing or "death" commission. Rationing would be a cornerstone of any public plan (it already exists in a much less totalitarian form in HMOs and other managed care options).

De Russy notes:

"And what of the president’s claim that his plan will give uninsured Americans access to the same coverage as members of Congress and their staffers? The only major newspaper to examine and publish the truth about the president’s sleight of hand in this matter is, again, the Wall Street Journal. Yes, the current bill would provide (at exorbitant cost to the taxpayer) such access to ordinary citizens, but – and here’s the catch – many of them would end up paying significantly more out of their own pocket than legislators or their staffers."

De Russy argues that the bill reveals the blatant insincerity of Soprano-Obama and quotes James Lewis in arguing that Congress should be forced to participate in any public option.

Hear, hear.

PETE STARK: "I wouldn't dignify you by peeing on your leg"

My West Shokan neighbor forwarded this video of a town hall meeting in which several citizens question Congressman Pete Stark's (D-CA) support for the Obama health plan. It is good that some Americans have been standing up against this fiasco. One woman who questions the bailout says "Obama in eight months has accumulated a deficit three times larger than Bush's." But many Americans do not know what freedom is.

Repeal Health Reform

National Broadside has proposed that reform of the Democrats' health care bill become a focal point for the Tea Party, conservative and libertarian movements. I agree. But I can't help but wonder why the million and one other government boondoggles wouldn't serve just as well. But health care would be a good starting point. National Broadside writes of the health bill:

>"This has an unusual ability to be repealed, and the public is on that side.” he said. "The Republicans are going to have to prove that they are worthy of their votes."

>Writes Greg Sargent of Plum Line:

It’s now becoming clear that this could be a major issue for Republicans in 2010: the Tea Party movement, as well as high-profile conservatives, are going to demand that candidates call for a full repeal of the Dem health care reform bill, presuming it passes.

Jim Crum on the Health Bill Law

The Honorable Richard J. Durbin
United States Senate
309 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510 1304

Re: Congratulations

Senator Durbin:

You've just blown a hole in the bottom of the budget and ignored a large majority of Americans both Liberal and Conservative.

This mess takes the worst of both worlds and combines them into a toxic and totally unaffordable cocktail that nearly everyone except yourself will have to pay for.
A more honest rendering of the cost of the bill, knowing what expenses will actually be covered, what budget cuts will actually happen, and tossing in the front loading of revenue, creates a final tab close to 3 Trillion dollars.
And here is the clincher it still leaves 15 Million people, or more, uncovered. WOW!

Dick, I have got to admire you, really. If I gathered 100 strangers together to try and make a worse bill, I couldn't come close.
Yet, somehow you and your colleagues found a way!
You must be so proud.

Sincerely,

Jim Crum

Call to Action: Okyay Calls Current Health Proposal "Garbage"!

Raquel Okyay has issued a call to action concerning the new health care proposals.

>Action Needed Now!
November 20, 2009 – 1:25 pm

To my dear friends,

I have been losing sleep over the healthcare reform measures circulating Congress. Of what I have been able to read and ascertain, all of it is GARBAGE! These bills are not REFORM, they are an attempt to nationalize healthcare, or in other words, put the government in charge of healthcare, rather than the free market.

The government will win the People will lose.

The Senate will vote to start debate tomorrow. It is imperative that the government hear our voices. Please take a few minutes out of your day, to make a few phone calls. Thanks!

I copied the following from an email forward:

This is a three part action alert. We need to call the Senate, our local Governor and the House.

Reid received the cost estimates from the CBO and the bill is now live. Reid has “SAID” the general public will have 72 hours to view the bill before they vote on it. We need as many Patriots to take action in the next 48-72 hours if we want to stop the Government Takeover of Health Care!

It is up to us, the American Patriots, to stop this government takeover of health care.

Call DC & LOCAL SENATE OFFICES:

Call the list of 13 Senators plus Snowe, Lincoln and Pryor.
Call the DC offices and the local offices.
Tell them the following:

Vote No on Cloture
Vote No on the Motion to Proceed with the Health Care bill
REMIND THEM - YES to Proceed is the same as voting YES for government control and mandates on health care.

Please note: All of these Senators are not local to NY. When you call - tell them
Their vote will affect all Americans. Think about what happened in New Jersey & Virginia this past election. You would be very happy to contribute to the campaign of their opponent the next time they are up for reelection!

Together we can Kill This Bill!

CALL Governor Patterson’s office (Phone: 518-474-8390 and/or send him an email using their link at: http://161.11.121.121/govemail)

Tell Patterson to stand up for the citizens of the state and ask the our NY State Senators to vote NO for a motion to proceed.

Tell Patterson it is important he helps us in this fight.
* The federal government is looking to make enormous cuts in medicare.
* The plans being discussed will require that states make up for these cuts.
* With the high unemployment rate of over 10% and the state of our economy it would be detrimental to state governments.

Patterson needs to know we don’t want NY State to have to make up the difference, and we need their help in stopping this bill.

FYI: Patterson’s PROPOSED budget will include $1 billion in new taxes on medical services. These taxes would be imposed on health care providers that will be passed on to insurers or local governments. In other words, the tax payers will be paying the bill. These new taxes will be imposed IN ADDITION to the $8 BILLION in new taxes and fees approved earlier.

HOUSE ACTION ALERT - Doc Fix bill

Tell Congress “Vote NO on HR 3961″ Medicare Physician Payment Reform Act of 2009
Doc Fix Bill NOT What the Doctor Ordered.
Payoff to AMA for HR 3962 Endorsement?
Survey shows MONEY is not primary concern of doctors, but government interference is.

ACTION: Call Your House Member today & tomorrow.
Tell them “VOTE NO on Hr 3961!”

We killed this back in the Senate last month, let’s do it again!!

Use this link to find out info on your Congressmen:
http://www.csa-1776.org/links.htm

Here are some simple points on HR 3961 - the so called “Doc Fix”.

* Doctors: It may freeze the physician Medicare pay cuts for next year, but it’s a far shot from a permanent solution. It just trades one complicated federal formula for another, and still leaves physician pay subject to Congressional whim in the future.
* Patients: Physicians are bailing out of Medicare at the rate of 25-33% percent. This does absolutely nothing to assure doctors that it is financially safe to start taking Medicare patients again. And common sense says the only way to offset more pay is to cut back on care.
* Taxpayers: This is a blatant effort by House Democrats to shuffle money around so they can pretend that HR 3962, which passed last week, doesn’t increase the deficit.
*This bait-and-switch tactic that was slapped down in the Senate last month, so why is it back in the House? So the House can “freeze the fees” then fix them later in a new payment system.
*The bill was introduced in time to secure an AMA endorsement for HR 3962, but then the House couldn’t find time to vote on it along with HR 3962 last week. This new bill may have something to do with the rebellion that needed to be quashed at the AMA meeting during the vote. Apparently the fix is in with the AMA, and the House is using the doc fix to keep the AMA in line.

SURVEY SAYS - MONEY IS NOT THE ISSUE FOR DOCTORS

* Physician pay isn’t even the primary reason that doctors are turning away new Medicare patients and restricting services, according to a new survey conducted this summer and fall.
* The problem is the ‘hassle factor’. The number one reason for refusing new Medicare patients is “Billing and regulatory requirements, which was rated ‘extremely important’ or ‘important’ by 95% of respondents
* The second reason: ‘Hassles and/or threats from Medicare carriers/government’ rated 91%.
* ‘Fees too low’ was in third place, with only an 81% rating.

If Congress passes the current health care reform bills that are on the table, there is no imaginable doc pay-fix that could offset the enormous increase in government interference in the day-to-day-practice of Medicine.

The Doctors feel they do not want the Govt to throw them a bone - a few dollars - and expect them to fall in line for more government red tape and interference. They need reform that puts patients and doctors back in charge, not government and bureaucracy.

Statement released from Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina).

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina), chairman of the Senate Steering Committee, made the following statement:

“Let’s be clear: Any senator who votes to proceed to this bill is voting for a government takeover of health care. Senators who hide behind procedure and claim they just want to allow for debate are not being honest, they are trying to deceive their voters while helping to pass this terrible bill that will make health care more expensive.

“Earlier today, Democrat leaders told reporters that the Senate may vote to proceed to a shell bill, not related to health care reform, in an effort to grant the President’s wish for a government takeover of our nation’s health care by Christmas. These outrageous shell games won’t fool Americans. Voters will remember who stands up for their freedom and who stands with the special interests who want to ram through this takeover.”

“President Obama and Democrats have now put forward at least four different versions of their government takeover, and Harry Reid has been secretly working behind closed doors on the fifth act of this fiasco. But despite the nuances, every Democrat bill puts Washington in control of health care, slashes Medicare coverage for seniors, raises premiums for families, raises taxes, places bureaucrats between patients and doctors, punishes young adults who choose not to buy coverage, and opens the door to government rationing of care.

“Americans have loudly and repeatedly rejected the President’s government takeover of health care. It’s time to for the Senate to listen, stop the shell games, and start over with real solutions that will provide every American the opportunity to afford, own and keep a health care plan that best meets their needs.”

Voice Your Opposition to the Health Bill

Netty Weisbaum writes:

ROB LAMB SUGGESTS DEFEATING HEALTHCARE BILL BY BEATING DEMS AT THEIR OWN GAME. DO IT ASAP, PLEASE!

Obama provides his people a link to contact media to support healthcare bill! We can take advantage of it!

We can use this same link to OPPOSE it. Dick Morris says we have to get 8% points in disapproval ratings to defeat it! Please follow this link, send your letter of opposition. (and continue to fax)

Thanks Sandra for providing me this info:

Barack Obamas " Organizing for America " has put the call out for people to Email their local papers and write a letter to the editor. They have created a VERY easy and fast way to write all your local papers with just a few key strokes. PLEASE take a minute to do this today and jump behind enemy lines to help kill the bill.

Here's what we need to do :

Go to : http://my.democrats.org/page/speakout/posthouseLTE

1. Put in your Zip code. You will be redirected to a page where you enter all your address information.

2. Check all the boxes for all of your local papers.

3. NOW CAREFUL THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART ! DO NOT CLICK NEXT. Instead Click " 2. Compose Letter " this is in the top middle of the page. This will allow you to compose your own letter to the editor against the healthcare bill.

4. Write your letter to the editor against the healthcare bill.

5. Now click Next

6. Preview your letter to the editor and click Send Email

Here is my letter:

Dear Congressman Hinchey:

Health care reform at this juncture is ill advised and inappropriate. At present, Americans pay an extreme and extortionate share of national income in taxes. Many in Ulster County are paying $1,000 per month in property taxes. The total national tax bill is in excess of 50%. An expensive health reform bill will bankrupt the nation. There are numerous additional problems with it, including the potential affects on medical innovation, which no "public health expert" understands and none will get right.

I urge you to vote against health reform.

Sincerely,

Mitchell Langbert

Letter to Congressman Maurice Hinchey Requesting Impeachment of President Ocheeseball

Dear Congressman Hinchey:

President Barack Obama lied to Congress recently when he claimed that his health care proposal (a) excludes non-citizen immigrants, (b) would not involve rationing that would limit care to many elderly Americans and (c) will be a stable system that will not result in fascist control of the entire health system by an increasingly totalitarian American state.

I urge you to propose to impeach President Obama for lying to Congress. His irresponsible lying is a disgrace and an embarrassment to the American people.

Sincerely,

Mitchell Langbert, Ph.D.
