Dr. Vieira's Electoral College Strategy

I just received the following e-mail from Contrairimairi. Dr. Vieiras has proposed an electoral college strategy. Does anyone know how to get the names and addresses of the electoral college delegates? We can send them letters proposing a demand for an investigation:

Dear Mitchell,
I spoke with Dr. Vieira just a while ago. I am very impressed with his knowledge about BO's citizenship standing. He has offered some GREAT insight into handling the problem.
His first idea is to have a member or members of the electoral college demand proof of the citizenship to verify that they are able to legally vote for him. Most of us already knew that one.
His second idea is to file the suit after he signs a piece of legislation that directly affects us as individuals, challenging his authority to do so. He says in that case, the Judge cannot deny standing.
He says Berg's suit will be thrown out, and if people continue to file the suits, the Court will label them "frivolous" and begin fining anyone who brings a suit.
I asked him about Sarah Palin bringing suit, and he claims she does not even have enough standing, that it would have to be filed now by a presidential candidate, (we can BANK JMC won't bring it!), or by a major contributor to BO's campaign, who may not be able to get what they were promised if BO is challenged and loses the challenge.
He told me he is "very certain" that BO will be challenged when he signs a piece of legislation, if he is not challenged by either the electoral college, or one of the other presidential candidates first.
I believe him. We spoke for a very long time, and he is very firm in his convictions. He told me not to pursue filing in Illinois at this time. I think he is hoping that the suits that may be labeled "frivolous" will end, and that we will wait and be patient until the timing is absolutely correct for a "WIN" on a challenge.
Thank you for convincing me to contact him. I feel very confident now that we will not suffer too much longer. It is just a shame that BO is going to allow this to be much more damaging and divisive than it should ever have been, but Americans will need to remember that it was BO's choice to be hurtful, not that of his opposition.
His own arrogance is likely to put a world of hurt on this Country, but once again, I have to say that I believe it is our generation's turn to defend America, only this time, in a way our predecessors could barely have imagined!
It is going to be difficult to be patient. Have you heard from Steve Marquis if the electors have filed suit?
Hope this is good news for you.

Voter Fraud May Be Elevating Turnout Stats

Wall Street Journal Online (paid access) reports:

"Michael McDonald, a politics professor at Virginia's George Mason University, predicted nearly 65% of the electorate would have voted by the time all polls closed -- matching or eclipsing the turnout in the presidential election of 1960 featuring candidates John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon. Not since 1908, when the U.S. was convulsing through a shift from the machine party politics of the 19th century to the free-for-all of modern campaigns, has so large a proportion of Americans participated in a presidential election."

The year 1908 is meaningful. In the nineteenth century voter turnout was high because the urban political machines routinely falsified votes. In the Progressive era around 1908 states began requiring voter registration, and voting rates fell below 50% from then on. Historians of the Progressive era often note this. This is the first year since 1908 that voting rates reached 65%. I wonder what portion of the exess 15% is due to enthusiasm about Barack Obama and John McCain, and what portion is due to fraud, notably by ACORN and other pro-Obama thugs.

Pinch Yourself---Before Reality Hits You in The Head

Dan Friedman just forwarded Melanie Phillips's fine Spectator article "Pinch Yourself". Phillips writes:

>"The contrast between, on the one hand, the huge amount of material about Obama’s radical associations that has been published in on-line journals and in a few brave newspapers, and on the other the refusal by big media to address it and to vilify those who do, becomes more astounding by the day...

"...through the Annenberg Challenge, Obama and Ayers channelled funds to extremist anti-American Afrocentric ‘educational’ programmes which were a carbon-copy of the world view of Pastor Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s black racist mentor who, under pressure, Obama was forced to repudiate. These programmes promoted, amongst other radical ideas, the ‘rites of passage’ philosophy which attempted to create a ‘virtually separate and intensely anti-American black social world’ in order to ‘counter the potentially detrimental effects of a Eurocentrically oriented society.’ One such teacher taught that

"‘The submission to Western civilization and its most outstanding offspring, American civilization, is, in reality, surrender to white supremacy.’"

The aftermath of the 2008 election may play out this way. The media's lying will hit home to America's bamboozled electorate when inflation, stagnant economic opportunity and reduced standards of living are coupled with Obama's egregious foreign policy mis-steps. The outcome may be a libertarian counter-revolution that is stronger and more pointed than the Reagan revolution and may result in a reformation or outright replacement of the Republican Party.

What is astonishing about this election is that it is as close as it is and that despite overt propagandizing by the media, which has done irreparable harm to it, along with three decades of Republican expansion of government, the recent overt and massive transfer of wealth from the average American to the wealthy, banks and debtors through the Republican bailout plan, and three decades of inflationary Republican monetary policies, the Republicans are as close as they are.

In other words, the media has had trouble lying for Barack Obama even though they have lied more aggressively than ever before and their lying has made them and their readers, viewers and listeners appear to be ignorant fools. This may be the election that does final damage to the remaining remnant of the PAM media's credibility.

Obama's going to go down because his ideas are so bad, and he is is going to bring Progressivism and the media down with him.

One final point: this may be good for freedom-loving Americans. The Republican Party has been the "Progressive Party" while the Democratic Party has been the "Social Democratic Party" for the last century. There is no longer any freedom party. A series of social upheavals created by a left-wing American government may become the best opportunity believers in freedom have had since the 1950s.

Donald M. Wyrick Protests Obama Candidacy

Hat-tip Jim Crum:

TO ALL:

The following is an E - Mail that I just now sent to the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections. Personally, I do not know where Obama was born and he may very well be a natural born citizen, but let him prove it -- it is part of the required credentials for the job he seeks. You and I have to prove that we are U. S. citizens when we apply for a U. S. Passport, Medicare, Social Security, etc., and in view of that he is no different than you and me. If you agree with this approach then forward this E - Mail to each and every contact on your E - Mail address list and request that they send this or a similar letter to their respective Secretary of State and/or their individual county Supervisor of Elections which for Hillsborough is voter@hillsboroughcounty.org. If not then you can simply delete. If it serves nothing more than to further obfuscate the issue then it may have some desired effect. Our time is short -- it is time for action! Maybe we can still save America! Dumpy

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Board of Elections Chairman:

In light of the controversy surrounding Sen. Barack Obama's failure to provide first-source proof in the presentation of his vaulted original birth certificate it becomes clear that those who have empowered the creation of the United States Government -- the citizens of the United States of America -- must now take it upon themselves to direct our elected and appointed officials to do their Constitutional duty.

We the People, demand and direct you and your commission and/or board to verify and authenticate -- by physically seeing, touching and acknowledging -- the vaulted, original and first-source birth certificate of Senator Barack Obama thus verifying his qualifications to hold the office of President of the United States of America, pursuant to Article II, Section 1 of the United States Constitution.

Your refusal to do so will violate your oath of office to uphold and defend the United States Constitution from enemies both foreign and domestic and constitute your willing participation in the creation of a Constitutional Crisis.

Until such time as Senator Obama provides the vaulted, first-source, authentic birth certificate proving his natural born citizenship, it is demanded and directed by the power vested in the people via the US Constitution that you remove and/or disallow any balloting for or in favor of Senator Obama.

Sincerely,
Donald M. Wyrick

Redalert: Republican Turnout In CA Exceeds Democratic

Doug Ross has forwarded a link to the following Redstate.com article by Redalert:

>"California has begun early voting already as well as mail-in balloting. The number of people who have gone in to vote in person has been extensive. The results so far prove what we had always suspected. The polls are being proven as totally unreliable. Although the results of early balloting have not been disclosed,of course, how many Republicans and how many Democrats have voted has been revealed.

>The results are simply shocking. The polls showed Barack Obama with an 18 point lead in California just a few days ago. The results thus far are the complete opposite. In the most liberal state in the entire country, the results are that 99,000 Republicans have voted and 96,000 Democrats voted. In the mail-in balloting the results so far are that 9,000 Democrats sent in their ballots and that 5,000 Republicans did so. So with nearly 210,000 people having voted, the Democrats have only a 1,000 vote advantage !

>If we take the liberty of assuming that all Republicans will vote for John McCain and all Democrats will vote for Obama, then the race is incredibly close. I'm sure that Obama will eventually win in California, but if he is struggling here after he pushed so hard for early voting, then he will lose the election ! Everybody thought he would win California in a landslide, but so far anyway,it's very tight. That means that in the less liberal states he is in real trouble.

>Ignore the pundits. Forget the polls. Get out there and vote for John McCain. The results in California show the wisdom of Yogi Berra who said, "It's not over until it's over."

Jim Crum Pessimist, Raquel Okyay Optimist

Jim Crum point:

It is so hard to accept that our nation is toying with putting an inexperienced Marxist into the position of commander and chief. With no cantilever in Congress to check and control his ambitions and hubris, this is going to get very ugly. With no strong fourth estate to call into question any issues, you can count on more of the same once he is in office.

Raquel Okyay counterpoint:

I feel your pain, but remain optimistic. Let's remember the onslaught of negativity towards President Bush in 04, even on election day, where liberal pundits were calling it a Kerry win with a 6 point national lead in the polls. The same people who are in the tank for Obama are the same people conducting the polls.

My concern back then was that America was going to elect a traitor, who testified against American troops. Now, the concern is as noted, the Marxist beliefs of Obama.

Every single Democratic operative are getting on television and lying. Lani Davis with a straight face called Obama a fiscal conservative. Their mantra is deny, deny, deny until the lie becomes the truth. I have much more faith in the American people. The evidence is very clear.

No one is mentioning the "Bradley effect" good or bad, people will say they willl vote for a black man, and then they do not. This effect will cost Obama atleast some points.

And, I'm sorry to say, if McCain wins, liberals will go ballistic. They will scream racism, voter fraud, and cause chaos and riots. They will show their true colors, and then maybe then, will normal moderate people who don't really follow the news, like we do, will see how outrageous and out of the mainstream they really are.

One other note, as they did in 2000 and 2004, Cuban Americans in Florida, and there are many, will deliver Florida to McCain, because if there is one thing that Cuban Americans understand is that Communism is a failed economic system, and anyone who would cohort with Castro and company is on the wrong side of freedom.

Fidel Castro killed my Aunt, and tried to kill my father for writing against the communist government, I know first hand (or second hand) how brutal communism is.

America deserves better!

Jim Crum Counter-Counterpoint:

Well stated. My real worry is that the left is gaining control of too many levers of power:

Academics
Media
Legislature
Executive
Judicial

In many ways, divided government does a better job of keeping the political scrimmage between the 40 yard lines. On the other hand, here in my home state of Illinois, one party runs everything and it is hard to describe how dysfunctional and corrupting it is. Ask Mairi (who is copied on this exchange and who lives in my state) her opinion, but my guess is that she would agree with me. Perhaps not, but I doubt it.

As far as riots, I really have no charitable comment. My only printable suggestion is counsel anyone to avoid it, as you usually end up hurting yourself and making things worse.

We will see how this shakes out…

John McCain Wins October 7 Debate

John McCain was the hands down winner of tonight's debate. One of the pundits on CBS, a Democratic Party propaganda outlet, said the debate was a tie, which was a convincing bit of evidence that McCain won. Moreover, only one of CBS's stacked panel of "undecideds" came out in favor of Obama. McCain's knowledge of foreign affairs is far superior to Obama's. McCain successfully painted Obama as a tax-and-spend Democrat. However, I do not think that either candidate is competent with respect to economics. We have two parties committed to failed Progressive policies that have caused declining real hourly wages through the Federal Reserve Bank's inflationary policies, policies that have recently been intensified. This will not change. With Obama, there will be more socialism and more economic decline. With McCain there will be the same, only less so.

Unfortunately, Senator McCain didn't raise any of the important questions about Barack Obama's mysterious background, illegal campaign contributions, voter fraud and related ethics issues. For instance, what occurred during his upbringing in Indonesia; whether he is eligible to be president given his dual citizenship; and why the Kenyan government has briefly arrested anti-Obama investigator, Jerome Corsi, before releasing him.

The Republicans Let a Corrupt Obama Win

Sadly, the Republicans are falling over themselves to let Obama win, so there's little we can do. Once John McCain decided to identify with George Bush, he ensured Obama's victory.

Contrairimairi writes:

>John Gibson just reported on Fox News, that Jim Johnson is still working with the Obama campaign. In an e-mail sent to former Hillary supporters, Tom Daschle has invited them to a breakfast given by him and Jim Johnson. Mr. Gibson made it abundantly clear that Jim Johnson is still very much involved in Obama's candidacy.

What is it going to take to prove that Obama does not now, did not then, and NEVER will have America or Americans best interests at heart? This apparent liar and "rip-off artist extraordinaire" has ALWAYS put himself first in EVERYTHING he has undertaken. It appears he was lining his pockets within MOMENTS of landing in Washington as the junior Senator from Illinois from the very companies he now "pretends" to be so "outraged" about. Not too surprising considering his contacts with Tony Rezko.

One HAS to wonder WHERE all the money from the millions "earmarked" to improve public housing in Chicago ended up..........where the millions "earmarked" to improve education in Chicago's poorest schools ended up.........WHY, despite his continuing "efforts" as a "community organizer" on Chicago's south side, NOTHING in those neighborhoods seems to have significantly improved. Probably, it would be safer to say that things have probably grown WORSE! More young people die in those neighborhoods than have been lost in similar time frames in the war. Housing in those areas remains sub-standard and dangerous. The peoples' quality of life in those areas NEVER seems to improve. I think we can tell from the trail we ARE able to pick up on, despite Obama's efforts to "hide everything from his past", that he never does ANYTHING without major benefit to himself.

I would LOVE to see one member of the MSM walk the sidewalks in the areas of Obama's "community organizing"....walk the hallways of the low income housing that SHOULD have been improved with the millions that had been earmarked for the area.......sit in a classroom with the children whose schools and education SHOULD have improved after Obama's "efforts" there.

Instead, we find out today, that one of the main contributors to the ills on Wall Street and the near financial collapse in America, is STILL on the campaign trail with Obama. I BEG Americans, do NOT listen to what this man says, watch what he does! He insults Americans at EVERY opportunity, apparently thinking we are just too stupid to get it.

This man is NOT POTUS material, and can NEVER even hope to be! We cannot ever expect the media to show the true facts that cloak this man. John Gibson stated on Fox News, the reason I am here telling you about this, is because the media will not!

This is just too truly pathetic!

Bob Barr and the Libertarian Party

Given the Republican Party's failure of ideas under George W. Bush and the recent strides toward socialization of America's financial institutions, I now consider the Libertarian Party platform more seriously. I have supported John McCain until now, but I am less certain following the recent Bush socialization plan. They are causing me to re-think my heretofore solid support for John McCain.

According to the Libertarian Party's website, Bob Barr is at 8 to 11 percent in polls in late August in several states. These include Ohio, New Hampshire and Nevada. This is enough to make Barr a factor in the race. Voting for him is not throwing one's vote away as it would be if he were running at two or three percent across the board.

On September 17, the Libertarians passed a resolution supporting withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan. I do not agree with that. In fact, it seems frivolous because they do not discuss how it will impact our defense against further 9/11-style attacks. It is nice to say that you are for isolationism, but Thomas Jefferson sent the navy to secure the Mediterranean from the Barbary pirates, who were enslaving our sailors. The Barbary pirates were similar to the crew we're fighting in Afghanistan. This is a strategic question that the Libertarians treat as a moral question.

On September 11, Bob Barr stated that a "surge" for fiscal responsibility is needed. He says:

“On my first day as president I will freeze federal spending...On day two, I will establish the Commission On Wasteful Government to develop a list of programs with no constitutional basis, which belong at the state or local level, or which don’t work. And I will go to Congress with a long list of programs to eliminate.”

This is a good position. I think across-the-board 35% cuts are a better idea, with a list of programs coming second, but a list is fine.

Also:

"Only Bob Barr and the Libertarian Party are saying no more bailouts. Only Bob Barr and the Libertarian Party are talking about controlling entitlements spending. Only Bob Barr and the Libertarian Party are pushing the surge in fiscal responsibility that the country needs.”

Barr made a 9/11 statement about terrorism on 9/10:

"The U.S. government can best mark the anniversary by continuing to target groups which threaten Americans, but also by respecting the liberties upon which our nation is based.

“The Bush administration deserves credit for having done much to disable al Qaeda as an effective terrorist organization...However, early on, the administration took its eye off of the ball when it shifted troops from searching for Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan to use in the unnecessary war in Iraq. Now, the situation in Afghanistan is deteriorating badly.”

On the one hand the LP says that we should withdraw from Afghanistan, on the other Bob Barr says that we should focus on Afghanistan. This is amateurish at best.

As for Iraq, Barr writes,

"I will quickly withdraw U.S. troops, leaving Iraqis in control of their own dstinies.”

With respect to experience, Barr has more experience than Obama, with eight years in Congress. However, he has less than McCain and lacks executive experience, as do Biden, Obama and McCain. Only Sarah Palin has executive experience.

Barr, like Obama and McCain, strikes me as an imperfect candidate. Overall, I would rate them as follows. My rating depends heavily on how heavily I weight the Republicans' socialist strategy is:

I consider two different weighting schemes that reflect my personal preferences. In the first, I weight the economy 50%, defense and counter-terrorism 20% each and social issues 10%. In the second, I weight the economy 30%, defense and counter terrorism 30% each, and social issues 10%. If I weight the economy at 50% of my concern, then Bob Barr is preferable to me over John McCain. However, if I weight the economy at 30% of my concern, then John McCain is preferable. Barack Obama is not in the running.

However, there are several strategic and dynamic concerns. For instance, a McCain victory now would continue to give credence to the socialist/big business/ Progressive wing of the Republican Party, which has become dominant and has been successful at influencing conservatives. Four more years of drooling boobs on Fox touting claims of non-existent "emergencies" to facilitate socialism will be difficult for me to take.

Second, a strong showing for Bob Barr will give the Republicans pause about the socialist path that they have chosen. This will enable free market liberals and intelligent conservatives to regroup.

Third, laissez-faire conservatives can blame further steps toward socialism on Obama. This will create Republican antipathy against rather than support for socialism. This would be a good thing and would harm the Republican Progressives, who have become ever more dominant. (They were always dominant, but the Bush administration is a Progressive fantasy come to life).

The question of whether to support McCain or Barr hinges first on the importance of reduction in economic freedom due to the Republicans' socialist strategy versus the threat of terrorism and military attack. Second, it depends on electoral strategic factors, which militate in favor of Barr. A strong Libertarian showing will push the Republicans toward more laissez-faire policies. At the same time, a Republican loss will stall Republican Progressives. On the other hand, there are serious defense, counter-terrorism and social drawbacks to an Obama administration relative to McCain. However, it is possible that, given this week's events, an Obama administration will reflect an improvement over the Republicans with respect to laissez-faire and efficient government.

It has become a difficult call. I have previously contributed heavily to McCain (for someone on a professor's salary). I am not sure that I can continue to morally support him given the Republicans' choices at the national level. I have reached out to some friends for advice on this, and am interested in your thoughts.

Obama's Contributors Benefit From Sub-prime Crisis

Contrairimairi forwarded this story from M. Simon's Power and Control blog. Simon writes of the Superior Bank of Chicago's bankruptcy:

"The uninsured depositors were dealt another blow recently when the U.S. Supreme Court let stand a lower court decision to put any recovered money toward the debt that the bank owners owe the federal government before the depositors get anything.

"But this seven-year-old bank failure has relevance in another way today, since the chair of Superior’s board for five years was Penny Pritzker, a member of one of America’s richest families and the current Finance Chair for the presidential campaign of Barack Obama, the same candidate who has lashed out against predatory lending.."

Moreover:

“The [sub-prime] financial engineering that created the Wall Street meltdown was developed by the Pritzkers and Ernst and Young, working with Merrill Lynch to sell bonds securitized by sub-prime mortgages,” Timothy J. Anderson, a whistleblower on financial and bank fraud, told me in an interview."

Simon adds:

"Well, isn't that special. Kind of reminds you of O's special friend Tony Rezko who worked the low income housing scam in Chicago. Small potatoes that Tony. He only destroyed millions in housing value. Pritzker was involved with trillions. But you know the Democrats really have a heart for the poor. As long as they can rob them blind."

Simon discusses another "thief for Obama", Jim Johnson. As well, he discusses ACORN's many links to Fannie Mae. He asks:

"Which politicians did Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae's Political Action Committees support? How about a look at the top five.

1. Dodd, Christopher J D-CT $133,900

2. Kerry, John D-MA
$111,000

3. Obama, Barack D-IL
$105,849

4. Clinton, Hillary D-NY
$75,550

5. Kanjorski, Paul E D-PA
$65,500"

Well what do you know. They're all Democrats. Change we can believe in. Read it all here.

New York Huckabee Supporters Helping Obama Slide

Pinni is my former student who also happens to be the head of the Federalist Society at Cardozo Law School in New York. Pinni was one of my very few best students in 17 years of teaching, and I pleased to say that he is doing well in law school. He just forwarded a fascinating e-mail from Myers Mermel, former New York State chair of New Yorkers for Huckabee. Mermel points out that McCain/Palin are within 4.2% of Obama. Wow, what a difference a few weeks can make! Mermel is now head of the McCain campaign's grassroots efforts. Mermel is encouraging New Yorkers to go to www.nymccain.com and sign up for county MEETUPS. Yay!

>Former Huckabee Supporters:

I am sure you have been as encouraged by Gov. Sarah Palin as I have. Her agenda and values are very much like Gov Huckabee's.

The Republican Presidential team of McCain/Palin is now addressing the concerns that we raised during the primaries.

I am writing to ask your help. I have become a part of the McCain campaign and am in charge of our grassroots efforts across New York State. Basically I am in charge of getting out the vote

I have remarkable news. Today Siena released a poll showing Obama was only 4.2% points ahead of McCain in New York State. This lead has been narrowed since June when Obama led by 18 points.

The McCain/Palin ticket is gaining in the polls by gathering the vast support of many Republicans and Democrats across New York State. But we are not there yet. However, we are in the home stretch.

I want to ask you to go back into the fields of politics one more time. We all need your help in order to turn New York into the biggest surprise victory in decades.

Please go to www.nymccain.com and sign up within your county. I would like you to go to your county and join the local MEETUP group. If there is not a MEETUP group in your county, please form one.

We are trying to get all MEETUP groups to gather around the first debate which is September 26th. From there we will start with targeted get-out-the-vote efforts.

Please consider helping; a lot is at stake. Please let me see you at MEETUP.

For such a time as this,

Myers Mermel

Dow Falls 504 Points as Obama's Chances Fade

The decline in Senator Obama's fortunes in the 2008 election have been followed closely by a sharp stock market decline today due to the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers. This bodes ill for my home town, New York City, and for my home state, New York, as both depend heavily on Wall Street and finance for their revenues.

Contrairimairi has forwarded a seemingly unrelated piece of news. Jennifer Rubin of Commentary Magazine.com notes that Mr. Obama is one of the largest recipients of donations from Fannie and Freddie Mac. Back in 2007 the Washington Post noted that Senator Obama was the largest recipient of donations from Wall Street. Thus, 17 months ago, before he overtook Senator Clinton in the primaries:

"The Illinois senator raised $479,209 from employees at the banks in the quarter, according to Federal Election Commission filings. Giuliani collected $473,442, and Clinton got $447,625. The figures are based on employers listed by the donors; in some cases, names are incomplete or missing."

This was back in April 2007 when I and many others had heard little about Senator Obama. Of course, with the backing of George Soros and Warren Buffett, Wall Street has been absolutely thrilled with Senator Obama's candidacy. Obama was talking about change for Americans when he really meant million dollar bonuses for the good folks on Wall and Broad.

In June 2008 I blogged that:

"In contrast to Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley has traditionally given to Republicans, according to Open Secrets.org. However, in 2008 Morgan Stanley has donated $1.4 million to Democrats and only $824.8 thousand to Republicans. As far as the finance, insurance and real estate industry as a whole, open secrets reports that in 2008, for the first time since 1990 when it begins its report, the industry as a whole is favoring the Democrats over the Republicans."

Wall Street has benefited from decades of Republican financial subsidies in the form of artificially reduced interest rates that have inflated the stock market, enhancing stock valuations and hence the turnover of stocks as investors have speculated to a far greater degree than they would have. Clearly, the Republicans have been running out of steam, as their subsidies have gone into the pockets of Wall Street bounders who lack the competence to manage even a subsidized business. Wall Street probably hoped that Mr. Obama was a plumed knight come to rescue them from their self-created dragons of inflation and American economic decline. Wall Street has been slurping up the resources of hard working Americans via Federal Reserve Bank inflation for decades, and now they are going bankrupt nevertheless. This is not incompetence. It is corruption.

I can't help but wonder if the stock market is declining in part as a reaction to the reality that Mr. Obama won't be around to help them in the coming four years.

Smears Debunked: The Truth About Gov. Sarah Palin

I received the following e-mail from Norma Segal this past Wednesday:

Smear: Democrats lie about Governor Palin supporting Pat Buchanan for President Facts: Gov. Sarah Palin endorsed Steve Forbes in 1996 and 2000, not George W. Bush for Pat Buchanan.

While Mayor of Wasilla, AK, Gov. Palin had a policy that if a candidate came to her city, she would wear that button on the day they were there. Pat Buchanan came to Wasilla so the day he came, she wore a button. On July 26, 1999, then-Mayor Palin wrote the Anchorage Daily News to clarify the record because a wire service story the paper had published nine days before "may have left your readers with the perception that I am endorsing" Buchanan because she had welcomed his visit to her town. "As mayor," she explained, "I will welcome all the candidates in Wasilla." (Anchorage Daily News, 7/26/99)

Smear: Democrats lie about Governor Palin endorsing the views of a Jews for Jesus speaker that spoke once in her church.
Facts: Gov. Palin did not know this speaker would be at her church and emphatically rejects his views.

This is based on concerns about a sermon presented last month at the church she usually attends. The Jewish news agency JTA investigated and reported that 1) Palin would have had no way of knowing that this person would be speaking at church that day, 2) Palin rejects the Christian speaker's offensive views, and 3) Abraham Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League, has seen "no evidence" that she shares those views. (JTA, 9/3/08)

Also, this speaker spoke once at Palin's church. Democrats should be cautious when their candidate, Barack Obama, embraced an anti-American, anti-Semitic pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright who was both a personal friend and mentor for 20 years. Democrats are absolutely attempting to smear Gov. Palin with distorted facts. Democrats are doing a disservice to themselves if they think with one or two distorted facts that they can fool the Jewish community.

Smear: Democrats lie about Governor Palin censoring library books.
Facts: The Anchorage Daily News found that then-Mayor Palin never proposed to ban a single book. (Anchorage Daily News, 9/4/08) All other rumors and innuendo on this topic are outright smears.

Smear: Democrats lie about Governor Palin seeking to have creationism taught in public schools.
Facts: Gov. Palin took no action to add creationism to the state's curriculum throughout her term in office.

The Associated Press investigated and found that Gov. Palin "kept her campaign pledge not to "push the State Board of Education to add creation-based alternatives to the state's required curriculum or look for creationism activists when she appointed members." The AP also quoted a political observer in the state who observed, "She has basically ignored social issues period." (Associated Press, 9/3/08)

The RJC is determined to set the record straight in the face of frenzied attacks on Gov. Palin and Sen. McCain. Please let us know if you hear about a smear that needs to be addressed.
