Quisling Fox: Does Glenn Beck Believe in Global Warming?

World Net Daily reports that Fox News broadcaster Glenn Beck supports the discredited global warming hypothesis. Recently, e-mails revealing falsification of research by global warming researchers have raised questions. Yet WND writes, quoting Beck:

"'You'd be an idiot not to notice the temperature change.'

"He also thinks it could be caused partly by man's activity.

"At home, he's going green by using energy-saving products."

Freedom activist Glenda McGee sent me the link. McGee writes:

"Alex Jones and Michael Savage have been warning Tea Party People about Fox News from DAY ONE. Hop on Board...If this is true, I am done with Beck. First there was Beck's denigrating those who questioned Obama's qualifications under Article 1, section 2 of the US Constitution, which I could pass off as sheer ignorance, and now this. If there are any liberals out there who want a cheap ticket to his appearance in Tulsa, March 13th, please let me know."

I do not watch television news (or listen to much radio news) but have been concerned about Beck's potential disruption of the freedom movement. What better way to co-opt a movement than to establish a quisling leader? Fox News is as reliable as Vidkun Quisling, the Norwegian leader who betrayed Norway to the Nazis during the Second World War.

During the weeks before the bailout Fox did absolutely nothing to air views in opposition to Bush administration's largest expansion of big government since the 1970s. Instead, it repeatedly aired the uninformed claims of socialists like Bill Crystal and Fred Barnes in favor of subsidies to incompetently run financial institutions that, based on their market performance and ability to allocate investments, should have failed decades ago but haven't because of ongoing subsidization by the American public via the Federal Reserve Bank.

That Fox regularly airs people like Barnes and Crystal suggests not that Fox is a Republican station that promotes alternative views, but rather a Rockefeller Republican station whose opinions coincide with the Democratic stations that otherwise monopolize TV and radio. Fox may tolerate Beck in order to manipulate Americans sympathetic to limited government, free markets, tax reduction and freedom. When the chips are down, will Mr. Beck once again favor big government looting as he did during the week following the Bush-McCain bailout announcement, when it really mattered? Where are his Lockean instincts to have reacted in the way that he did?

I hope WND is wrong about Beck, but besides Ms. McGee's snit, there is Beck's embarrassing lack of discussion of specific policies that might be adopted as alternatives to the Federal Reserve Bank, the 800 lb. gorilla that big government Republicrats love more dearly than their own mothers and to which Beck has never proposed an alternative.
